ABOUT US

Camp Kaskitowa exists to:

  • Provide amazing experiences in nature
  • Study and rejoice in the truth of God's word
  • Help campers grow in relationship to God

Our Mission

To use experiences in nature, the truth of God’s Word, and the strength of relationships to win and develop youth and adults to be leaders for Christ, who will change the world.

Our Vision

Godly men and women who reflect Christ to the world

History

Camp Kaskitowa was founded in 1939 and was originally located in Wisconsin where it served as the first Christian Service Brigade camp. In 1942, the camp was relocated to a site in northern Michigan before moving to its current location in Allegan, Michigan in 1945. The name “Kaskitowa” was chosen in 1940 because of it's meaning, “He has accomplished the work”. For more information about the history of Christian Service brigade, please visit their website.

Location

We are located in Southwest Michigan in the rural town of Allegan. We are set on about eighty acres of wooded property on the shores of Lake Shermerhorn.

Our Staff

Our staff consists of godly men and women who desire to serve the Lord through their ministry at Camp Kaskitowa. All staff members are interviewed and required to provide references along with submitting to background checks before being considered for service. Once accepted, each staff member is required to complete a training program tailored to the position that they are filling. Information about joining our staff can be found here.

Get Involved

We are often asked how people can help. We are amazed at how God uses so many different volunteers to bring us through each season of camp. We are truly blessed!!

As you are praying and considering how you might get involved with Camp K here are a few ways and things to consider:

  • Pray – As a ministry focused on reaching people for Christ, we are constantly under attack and cherish your prayers!! Pray for our staff, guests, and campers that our hearts would be open to learn and grow in Him. Pray for God’s provision to maintain and move this ministry forward. Pray for summer staff who would give of themselves that others may come to know Christ as their Savior. Pray for safety as we do all kinds of activities and work with kids who are not accustomed to following instructions or don’t understand the danger in which they put themselves or others in through their actions. Pray for our animals that the Lord would protect them and give them willing and gentle spirits as our guest and campers interact with them that they would be a blessing and point people to Him for His glory. We are thankful for those who pray for us!!
  • Give Financially – We desire to keep our prices low to minister to those who are not financially blessed. In order to continue doing so, we need those who would financially partner with us on a monthly basis as well as those who give one time gifts. If you would like to give please Click Here.
  • Plug into Stewardship Intervals – if you’re desiring to come for just a day or a few days to do some hands on tasks such as raking leaves, splitting wood, cleaning, etc. choose from multiple days set aside specifically for those things.
  • Plug into Servants in Action – interested in a longer commitment, join us for Servants in Action. There is always a lot happening throughout that week!
  • How much of a commitment am I willing to give? – Our biggest need is for individuals who will commit to consistent service throughout our camp season. Even if it’s to commit to coming every Friday to clean our cabins and Bath House that would be a HUGE blessing! Maybe you would like to serve for one specific week in the kitchen or leading Archery or the Craft Shop for us…that is wonderful! Once you have considered and know how much of a commitment you are interested in, we are better able to know which direction to point you in in order to get involved.
  • Am I willing to do the state required training to serve at Camp K? – If you wish to volunteer during the months campers are on the property (June - August) there are specific state required training and laws you must abide by. This begins with completing a Staff and Volunteer Application and includes attending specific training dates scheduled in June.
  • Interested in serving with Camp Kaskitowa but not sure where to start…complete our Staff and Volunteer Application and we will talk with you and see what God might have.
